ST. JOHN'S ALTAR SERVERS- Boys of reasonable age are encouraged to serve in the altar during liturgical services. They assist the priest, learn their way around the altar and come to understand their service as one of many ways in which they give back to the Lord. The coordinator of St. John's altar servers is Mr. James Oram. Our senior altar server is a brilliant young adult named John whose knowledge and abilities in altar service are extraordinary.
ST. JOHN'S CHURCH SCHOOL- Beginning in October, 2008, we will innagurate a new Church School year. We begin a little late this year as our Church School has undergone a significant reorganization given the recent influx of several young children. There will be more information forthcoming.
INQUIRER'S CLASSES AT ST. JOHN'S- Though there are not any current inquirer's classes underway, plans are being made to introduce them at the start of the new year. Interested parties may contact Fr. Adam by phone or e-mail. If there is a need to begin these classes prior to the New Year, this may be accomodated easily and happily. Even those who are Orthodox already but would like to broaden their understanding of our ancient faith are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
ST. JOHN'S PIEROHIE PROJECT- St. John's typically holds two pierohie projects per year as a fundraiser; one in the fall and one in the spring. Occassionally we will do more than two if there is a special need or cause. Our dedicated "pinchers" remain hard at work for many days, cranking out approximately twelve thousand of these little beauties each time. This effort is a fun and productive way by which we sustain ourselves, both financially and through the fellowship and friendship we experience. New "pinchers" are always welcomed and encouraged as this is a way in which we pass this tradition on to the next generation which will be the face of St. John's in a new century.
