A New Abbot for St. Tikhon's Monastery in South Canaan, PA
On Saturday, January 23rd, St. Tikhon's Monastery in South Canaan celebrated a momentous occasion in the history of the monastery, the installation of an Abbot. Igumen Sergius was elected by the brotherhood to be the 16th Abbot of the monastery in October 2009. The event was blessed to have taken place in the presence of the miracle-working Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Friends, family, monastics, clergy, and parishioners from all jurisdictions were present for this joyous and grace-filled event.
May God preserve Fr. Abbot Sergius and the monastery brotherhood of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk for many blessed years!
