. Weekly Akathist Prayer to St. John the Baptist and St. Alexis of Wilkes Barre
Understanding that through focused prayer we play a decisive role in the future of this parish, and that we can have a real impact on the community and all who dwell therein, it was agreed at our Annual Meeting in October that we would gather as a parish weekly and pray an Akathist service for the building up of the Body of Christ in the Hanover section, Askam, and all Nanticoke. We alternate weekly between St. John, our heavenly patron and protector, and St. Alexis of Wilkes Barre, our local saint who was instrumental in bringing us into the fullness of faith in the Orthodox Church.
We recognize that it is of utmost importance to the future of this parish that we make every effort to be vigilant in prayer and in our resolve to trust in God's providence. Our faithfulness in prayer to our Heavenly God through the intercession of His saints WILL bear fruit and do so abundantly, if only we come together and beseech the Lord that He allow HIS BODY to again prosper here. With great hope we look forward to you joining us often in prayer for this purpose.
